|
The value clients receive from coaching is in their
becoming a more aware observer of themselves and their business. With
this new observer comes an ability to handle with greater ease the
change that new generations of clients and employees bring,
competition from unexpected sources, sudden changes in the world
economy and the unforeseen.
For the individual, coaching is a means to unglue the bindings that
hold thinking in place. The thinking that has you repeating the same
actions over and over in your attempt to make changes in your
performance. These types of changes usually consist of doing more of
the same or doing more of the same with a different look. The change
that you are able to make is limited to changing the practices that
you are capable of noticing.
The Juggler who greets you on the opening page is a graphic
representation of how most people in business fail to notice. Their
attention is focused on Income, Expenses and Profit … and falling out
of their “noticing” are the common aspects of humans: Body, Emotions
and Language. |
|
To quote the
Scottish psychologist R.D. Laing:
The range of what we think and do
is limited by what we fail to notice
And because we fail to notice
that we fail to notice
there is little we can do
to change
until we notice
how failing to notice
shapes our thoughts and deeds. |
|
Now that we notice that we fail to notice and we
notice what we failed to notice, the question is “what’s next?”
One choice is Coaching with IBC. The foundation of the coaching done
by IBC is the research done in the development of artificial
intelligence as presented in the works of F. Flores, “Understanding
Computers and Cognition” and “Management And Communication In The
Office Of The Future”; the biology of cognition from the writings of
H. Maturana, “The Tree of Knowledge” and numerous private papers
written by the staff of Newfield Network. |
