FAQ

Is coaching a trend?

The speed of change in the world is one of the driving forces behind the growth of the coaching profession. The demands of an unpredictable ever-changing world of business are forcing a constant reevaluation of what is happening around us and how do we deal with it. And so it seems that coaching will continue to be a profession as long as change continues.

How does it work?

It begins with an initial conversation between Coach and Client during which the Client explains what they would like to accomplish during the period of coaching. Usually the Client will select three issues that are important to work on. The Client and Coach will begin a series of conversations during which the Coach will work with the Client to become a different observer of what they are saying is the “problem.”

How do I know if I will benefit from Coaching?

It is not possible to predict in advance if any individual will benefit from coaching. The benefit to be had from coaching is directly related to setting up clear items you would like to gain from coaching, being responsible for doing the work as suggested by the Coach and tracking the movement toward those outcomes.

Is it worth the money?

Fortune magazine, July 23, 2001 article “ROI study on Executive Coaching” stated the following, “Asked for a conservative estimate of the monetary payoff from the coaching they got, these managers described an average return of more than $100,000, or about six times, what the coaching had cost their companies.”  “They also reported better relationships with direct reports (77%), bosses (71%), peers (63%) and clients (37%), and cited a marked increase in job satisfaction (61%) and 'organizational commitment' (44%), meaning they are less likely to quit than they were before.”

What should I look for in a Coach?

What is their training background, who did they train with, how long did they train; what client endorsements do they have and are these consistent with your needs. A Coach should offer a “no charge” first session so that you and the Coach can each make a determination if there is a fit.

What is the cost?

Cost of coaching will depend upon whether the coaching will be for an individual or a team. The minimum period for individual coaching is twelve sessions. Team coaching is custom designed and can vary from a one day workshop to an ongoing program.
